Accessibility

Therapy should not be hard to reach, and neither should the website that leads to it.
The standard this site targets
Bing Counseling's website is built to conform with the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.1, Level AA.
What that means in practice
- Keyboard access. Every link, button, menu, accordion and form field can be reached and operated with a keyboard alone, and the focus indicator is always visible.
- Colour contrast. Text and interface colours meet or exceed the AA contrast ratios, in both the light and dark colour schemes.
- Structure. Pages use real headings in a logical order, one main heading per page, semantic landmarks, and a "skip to main content" link.
- Images. Photographs carry descriptive alternative text; decorative graphics are hidden from screen readers.
- Forms. Every field has a visible, associated label, errors are announced rather than only shown in colour, and nothing depends on a timed response.
- Motion. Animation is minimal and is switched off automatically if your device is set to reduce motion.
- Zoom and reflow. The layout works down to a narrow phone screen and at 200% zoom without horizontal scrolling or loss of content.
- Content. Copy is written in plain language, and every answer is present in the page itself rather than hidden behind a script.
Known limitations
Some parts of the experience are provided by third parties — the online booking and billing platform, for example — and their accessibility is not under my direct control. If you hit a barrier there, tell me and I will arrange the same thing by phone. You never have to use an online system to work with me.
Telehealth and accessibility
If video is difficult for you for any reason, say so before we start. Adjustments are usually straightforward — a different platform, a phone consultation to begin with, written summaries after a session, longer appointment times, or a slower pace.
Tell me about a problem
If any part of this website is difficult or impossible for you to use, I would like to know rather than have you give up on getting help. Call or text (732) 305-0277, or use the contact page. Tell me which page you were on and what happened, and I will fix it or find another way to get you the information.
Questions about this document can be directed to Bing Counseling using the details on the contact page.
