This policy explains what happens to information you provide through bingcounseling.com. It covers the website only. Information created once you become a client — session notes, clinical records, billing — is governed by the HIPAA Notice of Privacy Practices.

Who is responsible for this website

Bing Counseling, a telehealth counseling practice operated by Gregory Bing, MA, LPC, serving clients located in New Jersey. Contact details are on the contact page.

What this website collects

Information you choose to send

If you use the enquiry form, you provide your name, email address, optionally a phone number, your preferred method of contact, and whatever you write in the message field. This is used solely to reply to you and, if you go on to book, to arrange your consultation.

Please do not send detailed health information through the form. It is a general enquiry channel and is not a secure, HIPAA-compliant transport. A sentence about what you are looking for is all that is needed.

Information collected automatically

The website is a set of static pages. It does not set advertising cookies, it does not build a profile of you, and it does not sell or share information with data brokers.

Google Analytics 4 is used to understand, in aggregate, which pages people find useful. IP addresses are anonymised. This tells us that a page was visited; it does not tell us who you are. You can prevent this collection using a browser extension such as the Google Analytics Opt-out Add-on, or by blocking analytics scripts in your browser or a privacy extension.

The web host keeps standard server logs — IP address, timestamp, page requested, browser type — for security and reliability. These are routine technical records kept for a limited period.

Who else is involved

A small number of service providers make the website work. Each only receives what it needs to do its job:

Web hosting — serves the pages and keeps server logs.
Form delivery — passes enquiry form submissions to Greg by email.
Google Analytics — aggregate, anonymised usage statistics.
Scheduling and billing platform — if you book an appointment, that platform operates under its own privacy terms and, where applicable, a business associate agreement.

Information may also be disclosed where the law requires it, or where it is necessary to protect someone's safety.

How long information is kept

Enquiries that do not lead to an appointment are kept only as long as needed to respond, and are then deleted. If you become a client, your clinical record is kept for the period New Jersey law requires and is handled under the HIPAA notice rather than this policy.

Your choices

You can ask what enquiry information is held about you, ask for it to be corrected, or ask for it to be deleted. You can ask to be contacted by a different method, or not at all. Write to the address on the contact page.

As a client, you have additional rights over your clinical record, which are set out in the HIPAA Notice of Privacy Practices.

Children

This practice serves adults and older adults. The website is not directed at children, and information is not knowingly collected from them.

Security

The website is served over HTTPS. No transmission over the internet can be guaranteed completely secure, which is exactly why the enquiry form asks you not to include clinical detail.

Changes to this policy

If this policy changes, the revised version will be posted here with an updated review date.
